Another guest of notable importance of our World Poetry Day, it is without doubt Luan Rama, not so much for the roles he holds or used to held, but for his undoubted remarkable investimemt in historical-political studies and for being known as an art critic.  This is undoubtedly present in his poetry where the civil commitment is perfectly combined with the history of his own homeland  and of the country he actually lives in, France.  The historical memory is intertwined with current events regarding themes that mostly afflict humanity. It could not be otherwise for a poet like him, who has experienced by himself most of the events regarding Albania in the 1990s along with the stories of many famous people writing about them as journalists. Thus, in poetry the word freely sings and flies, detached from any type of writing that nonfiction and journalism impose.

Madre Teresa c’era fame

Si madre, tu avevi fame,
grande fame d’amore,
sangue sulle tue bianche lenzuola, e gioivi,
fino all'ultimo respiro,

Jezu-ja më do thoje ti
“Nëna jonë po vjen me hapat e diellit”.

Mother Teresa was hungry

Yes mother, you were hungry,
suffering the great hunger of love,
it was your silent cry
the calvary and the long night,
your tears for the hidden chest
and the desire for a warm bed,
but you were a promised bride,
your “husband” Jesus
resting upon your head like a crown of thorns,
every night a drop of blood fell on your forehead
blood on your white sheets,
and you rejoiced
Jesus loves me, you would say
Jesus tells me to love others
the poorest of the poor, the ones like you,
love them even in their agony,
to the last breath,
and deny yourself, you gray butterfly of heaven ...
and you loved them dearly, you sad butterfly of heaven,
denying yourself  all dreams of this world,
beside the Virgin’s statue “I’m hungry” you wrote,
there, in the House of the Kind Heart*,
where the abandoned Calcutta baby died in your arms,
where wound after wound would open in your heart,
and your wounded body wondered
through the never ending nigh of the Titagarh’s,
the gloomy streets shone from your leaking wounds
scarlet colour roses with a thousand petals in Kaligat,
yes Gonxhe, you were hungry,
dying the next day at dawn with you,
oh, one hundred thousand deaths together,
the Brahman women prayed for the “Kali” deity,
they also pray for you, “Sister of Bengal”,
“Mother Teresa” with eyes only for the world of the blind,
Your blue “sari” appeared on the street
like a flag of hope and a love bed,
“We are not alone” said the lepers,
“Our mother is coming, walking on the footsteps of the sun.”
taught by your Drania** as a child,
“Do a good deed as if throwing a stone into the sea,”
and you filled the sea with your stones of love,
you, our passing mother, climbing the altar of the poets,
through skies of the love of an orphaned world.

e queste bambole senza nome, senza gambe e mani,

kukulla hedhur gjer këtu ne brigjet e Egjeut...

Elegy for Aegean Sea Dolls

For dolls, an elegy has never been written,
an elegy mourning their dreams,
but  today on the Aegean coast,
an elegy alone too little seems to be,
for their faint eyes in the great calamity
burned and thrown by thunderstorms and lightning.
For the silent mouths  of children left at sea
fleeing the war and the horror of the world,
there is nothing but their small shoes left,
the scarves of the lost mothers who knows where
and these nameless dolls without hands and feet,
without their adorned shirts
and eyes that no longer can speak of anything
from their hell-journey ,
dolls washed out on the Aegean coast ...
For dolls, elegies have never been written says the foamy wave,
never, repeats the wind that hits the rocks,
the wind that weeps with its Homeric tears.
This is the elegy of shoes that will not walk tomorrow,
the elegy of children who can no longer dream,
the elegy of their extinguished eyes in the world of bullet-like wonders
in the Sea of the Dead Humanism...

Baba Modi ascolta Mozart

Baba Mondi ascolta Mozart
che gira volteggiando senza posa qui a Parigi,
tra le preghiere di tutto il mondo
per cantare all'amore come Haji Bektash Veli.
Baba Mondi chiude gli occhi:
“Mai più guerre, morti e bombe
poiché siamo spirito dello spirito
e progenie dello stesso amore!”

Baba Mondi listens to Mozart

Baba Mondi listens to Mozart
not in the Tirana Grand Tekke
but at the “Palace”, in the heart of Paris
where an Albanian dancer performs on stage
“The angel” has descended on earth! - says Baba
murmuring the prayers of his coryphaea
the angel opens his arms and jumps in the air
“one of a kind”
Baba’s beard shivers
of this dove of peace
and it seems to him that Mozart is back
in the world of the living
dressed in green, with his magic wand
an angel-dancer, a Mozart and the infinite dance of the dervish
whom pirouetts constantly here in Paris
amidst the prayers of the whole world
to sing to love like Bektach Veli.
Baba Mondi closes his eyes:
“Never again war and bombs,
we are all the breath and children of the same love! “
He murmurs in the divine darkness where the world turns
imagining himself dancing with this angel
in an endless drunkenness,
not at the Palace
but under the lighten couple of the sky,
on the burning trunk of the earth,
Mozart’s Requiem!

Era Buçpapaj is among the poets of the World Poetry Day, one of the youngest voices representing an astounding level of poetic maturity. She is a daughter of art, using a writing style undoubtedly quite unlike that of the contemporary young poets around the world. She has a vision for the world, strongly broadening personal horizons, and an ability, even through stringent metaphors, to grasp unusual aspects of life such as love for nature and dissension among human beings failing in it. She conveys the message through a timid but desperate whisper, which I hope will be perceived from sevral poems written by her. (b.c.)

Respiro dopo respiro
i bambini cambiano aspetto.

lancia i suoi raggi luminosi

Mentre sfiorisce,  rivive
mentre rivive, svanisce.

Corpi innumerevoli ancora indossano
il primo respiro
ieri era il loro sovrano
mentre oggi è diventato il loro schiavo.

Infant grey hair

The first breath
Differs not from newborn to newborn

Free from evil
Free from good
Newborns, such clear skies
Looking forward to sheltering the sun,
the moon, the stars and the clouds

Breath follows breath
And newborns grow up
With years starting to rest on their shoulders
With evil and good starting to intermingle in their insides

In the daytime, even when the clouds cover the sky
The sky ceases not to exchange kisses with the sun
At night, to defeat darkness, the moon
Orders all its armies to launch an offensive
The sky thunders, the stars fight
To outdo one another in letting out light

Day gives life to day
Night devours night

The first breath beautifies itself with grey hair
Born from the womb of the first breath itself
No, men are not empty sacks
Their content has given shape to them
And the light of their souls lives in their eyes

It exists by vanishing
It vanishes by existing

Countless bodies are still wearing
The first breath
Yesterday it was their ruler
And today they have made it into their slave...

Thinja Foshnjore

Fryma e parë
Nga foshnja në foshnje nuk dallon

E pazënë
Nga e liga
E pazënë
Nga e mira
Ajo, qiell i pastër

E drita e shpirtit u jeton te sytë

Teksa venitet, ajo gjallon
Teksa gjallon, ajo venitet

Trupa të panumërt ende mbajnë veshur
Frymën e parë
Sundimtare e tyre ish ajo dje

m’avvolgi  l’anima, me la sconvolgi, me l’accarezzi,
Tenti , ti affanni
per farmi ascoltare le tue parole,
sentire il tuo sfiorare
toccare il tuo corpo..

Vuoi che ti rapisca l’anima,
per diventare mio per sempre,
Ma Tu, vento furioso, sei stato benedetto,
a ogni cosa, a ognuno appartieni,

Wind

WIND, o WIND touching my skin,
Wrapping, shaking and caressing my soul,
But never ever piercing my body,
YOU try, yes, YOU struggle
To make me listen to YOUR words,
To make me feel YOUR touches
To make me touch YOUR body...

YOU want me to conquer YOUR soul
And become mine forever,
But, o crazy WIND, YOU are so blessed,
For YOU belong to all,
For YOU belong to none,
YOU travel freely and fight for FREEDOM,
But still you want a place to shelter YOUR soul...

O WIND, this FREEDOM was so cunning
That lured YOUR soul,
That stirred YOUR body,
And thus caught YOU in ITS trap...

Now YOU wander wearing a foreign body,
Seeking to find another one that is not yours...

When YOU touch or kiss me with YOUR breeze,
YOU eagerly embrace the whole of me,
YOUR caresses are so sweet and soft
That, whenever I trouble YOUR soul,
YOU grow gloomy and disappear in FREEDOM...

Vena d'amore

Bellezza, voglio il tuo corpo
avvicinati che lo bacio

Lasciami scrutare il tuo occhio assetato voglio toccarlo
purificami i pensieri accarezzami gli arti.

Ama i piaceri peccaminosi
i miei divini peccati.

Vieni  a bere, ubriacati di me
non andare via, bevimi tutta

Cavalcando lascia il mio spirito
regnare nella follia dei tuoi campi infiniti

Vieni a fare impazzire la mia sensualità
e poi, io e te, insieme, la conquisteremo...

The loving vein / wine

Beauty, I love your body
Come, and let me kiss your body

Let me feel your stare
Let me touch it with fury
Wash my thoughts
And caress my limbs

Love my sinful wanderings
And my divine sins

Come, and drink and get drunk with me
Swallow me entirely

Let my soul ride you
Let my soul madly reign in your fields of no end

Come, let us drive lust crazy
And then, let you and I, the two of us, conquer it...

Vena dashurie

Bukuri, ta dua trupin
Eja të ta puth trupin

Syrin të ta ndiej
Ethshëm të ta prek
Lajmi mendimet

e sempre a lei torniamo.

Life’s orgasm

Bitter is the joy from where it spreads its ripples,
Honey sweet is the feeling that bears it,
Painful is the war to seize it,
Holly is the conquest of the throne from where it rules...

Happiness and pain merging into one,
Shouts and moans wearing cheerful worries are heard from within it...
We were born out of it,
We rush to take shelter in it,
Yes... We always do come back to it...

Its crazy sweetness unites bodies and souls,
Pulling the pink thorns from it,
Stripping it naked, and thus enables blooming,
Even the first happy cry belongs to this moment...

We rush to take shelter in it,
We were born out of it,
Yes... We always do come back to it...

Drejt saj turremi,
E.. prapë tek ajo kthehemi..

Ëmbëlsia e saj e shkalluar dyzon trupa, shpirtra,
Dhimbjes ia shkul gjembat e trëndafiltë,
E zhvesh lakuriq, ahere shpërthen lulëzimi,
Edhe vaji i parë i hareshëm ahere vjen në jetë..

Drejt saj turremi,

1. Nacque esule fiore
una giunchiglia,
piccolo sasso di mare
nel cerchio del tempo.
Si commuovono le mani,
pioggia di stelle
a baciare gli occhi.
Ora senza voce
il tramonto disegna
un sorriso bagnato
ai confini dell’alba.

She was born
as an exile jonquil,
a small sea’s pebble
in the circle of time.
Hands are moved to tears,
rain of stars
to kiss the eyes.
Without voice
the sunset draws
a wet smile
at borders of the dawn.

1.Lindi lule në mërgim
një narçis,
guriçkë e vogël deti
në rrethin e kohës.
U mallëngjyen duart,
shi yjesh
që puthin sytë.
Tani pa zë
perëndimi skicon
një buzëqeshje të lagur
në kufijtë e agimit.

2. Tremano le mani
specchi di luna
nel trattenere
la luce del giorno.
Il grido acerbo del buio
accompagna fedele
la nostalgia del viaggio.
Canta la tenerezza
coi passi lenti del tempo.
Comprenderanno le anime
cosa significa amare.

The hands shake,
mirrors of moon
to hold strong
the light of day.
The sharp cry of nightfall
follows faithful
nostalgic living.
The tenderness sings slowly
with steps of time.
The souls will understand
what true love means.

2. Dridhen duart
pasqyrë e hënës
kur  mbajnë
dritën e dites.
Klithma e athët e errësirës
shoqëron besnike
nostalgjinë e udhëtimit.
Këndon butësia
me hapat e ngadaltë të kohës.
Do ta kuptojnë shpirtrat
çfarë do të thotë të duash.

.3. Improvvisiamo voli
lungo rotaie abbandonate,
aquiloni dal filo spezzato.
Fissiamo il vuoto
in un orizzonte di polvere
e tra le cose perdute
sogniamo la vita.
Nell’indifferenza
che non sa accogliere
il volto dell’umanità
cadono ali inermi sulla terra arida
senza radici a cui aggrapparsi.
Un velo di tenerezza
conforta le ombre
nella cecità del dolore
quando il buio nega lo sguardo
alla ferita del tempo.

We try to fly
along desert rails
kites from the broken wire.
We look this gap
in an horizon of dust
and among lost things
we dream life.
In the indifference
which can’t protect
the face of humanity
unarmed wings fall down on the cold land
without roots to cling.
A veil of tenderness
comfort the shadows
in the blindness of pain
when darkness denies the look
at wound of time.

3. Improvizojme fluturime
gjatë shinash të braktisura,
balona me fije të këputura.
Fiksojmë boshësinë
në një horizont me pluhur
dhe mes gjërash të humbura
ëndërrojmë jetën.
Në indiferencën
që nuk di të përqafojë
fytyrën e njerëzimit
bien krahë të pambrojtur mbi tokën shterpë
pa rrënjë ku të kapesh.
Një vello butësie
ngushëllon hijet
në verbërinë e dhimbjes
kur errësira i mohon shikimit
plagën e kohës.

4. Dove tace
il respiro del mare
vive segreta
la parola che sfiora
il grido del mondo

Where the breath of sea
has no voice
the word lives secretly
and touches
the cry of the world.

4.Ku hesht
fryma e detit
jeton e fshehtë
fjala që prek
klithmën e botës

5. Il poeta viaggia
senza passaporto,
ha nascondigli segreti
nella stazione
degli arrivi negati.
Si ripara nella premura
eterna del sentimento,
sonnambulo veglia
sul foglio inerme
le note dell’assenza.

The poet travels
without passport
has got hiding places
in the station
where nobody arrives.
He protects himself
in the care of feeling,
sleepy watches
over a frail sheet
the notes of absence.
To Beppe Costa

5. Poeti udhëton
pa pashaportë,
ka skuta të fshehta
në stacionin
e mbrritjeve të mohuara.
Strehohet në kujdesin
e përjetshëm të ndjenjës,
sonambël bën roje
mbi fletën e pambrojtur
shënimet e mungesës.
a Beppe Costa

6. Dove rinasce
il fiore che muore
nell’istante in cui si perde
il confine del cuore?
Siamo isole
nel mare dei ricordi.

spring up again
when we lose
the boundary of heart?
We are islands
in the ocean of memories.

6. Aty ku rilind
lulja që vdes
në çastin kur humbet
kufirin e zemres?
Jemi ishuj
në detin e kujtimeve.

7. Sulla spalla inerme
scivolava adagio
l’eco di un bacio.
Sussurravano gli occhi
il pianto antico dei poeti.
Mani protese al cielo
cercavano l’aurora
nei passi del mendicante.

On the shoulders
lay down sweetly
the echo of a kiss.
Eyes whisper
the tears of poets
with outstretched hands
looking for the dawn
in the steps of a mendicant.

7. Mbi shpatullën e pambrojtur
rrëshqiste ngadalë
jehona e një puthje.
Pëshpëritnin sytë
të qarën e lashtë të poetëve.
Duar të shtrira drejt qiellit
kërkonin agimin
në hapat e lypësit.
